The discussion boards enable conversations. It’s easier to have those conversations when you’re following discussions you’re interested in. There are several features throughout the system to help you manage following/unfollowing discussions and viewing the ones you do follow.
First make sure your Settings are configured as you want them, such as what combination of UI badge and email notifications you want, as well whether to automatically follow discussions you reply to.
In contrast to the ‘follow discussions you reply to’ setting, you will automatically follow all discussions you start, but this is a non-configurable system default. But you can manually unfollow discussions you start, individually.
Tip: There are 3 email notification options. It’s recommended you opt-in for all three if you don’t visit the boards often. Also be sure you check your spam/funk folders a few times when first interacting in the boards to ensure you’re not missing the notification emails.
Gold star means “following”
When you see a gold star on a title in a discussion list, it means you’re following the discussion.
Follow / Nofollow controls
You can manually follow or unfollow discussions (yours and anyone else’s) using the Following controls in the right sidebar when in context of those discussions.
There’s also an extra Ignoring option to rid yourself of any discussion that really irks you.
A convenient region of the boards is the Following view, where all discussions you are following at any given time are listed. You can access this list via the Following link in the left sidebar menu (desktop displays) of all discussion list views…
You can also access the Following view via the horizontal menu at top of the Tags view.
